Rather than tear down an existing ranch house on a scenic four acre property in the RSF covenant, ELD worked with the owner to create a expansive remodel and addition that terraced down slope and carved out new liveable spaces with large terraced outdoor spaces above. The project preserved the site’s native vegetation and neighboring site lines. ELD worked to balance the the RSF Association’s desire to preserve it’s latin inspired history, and the owner’s desire for a contemporary home that prioritizes form, volume and indoor/outdoor space. These factors, combined with the communities increasing exposure to wildfires, created a project both responsive and exciting
